in a SVT Cobra Mustang at TX2K13

I went out to test my new setup. DA was roughly about 5000 feet and it was hot. Over 100 degrees at the track. Its gona be my last day race for awhile. It was just miserable being in the helmet and sitting in staging lanes but well worth the pay off.

My car is a 2004 Mustang GT Coupe with following done to it. Everything was built by Frank Yee at Voodoo Racing Innovations. The pass was made at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Dragstrip. It was a first round of Eliminations. Second run I forgot to turn on the bottle(FAIL) and the car stalled out. The mods are in the sig and power numbers as well.

The 1999 Mustang Cobra in many ways helped redeem a nameplate that had fallen on hard times. It isn’t that we don’t like the first-gen SN95 Mustangs…it’s that, quite honestly, they weren’t all that fast. But the 1999 Cobra changed that, finally giving the Mustang respectable horsepower numbers while rekindling the passion Mustang have for their favorite pony car.

Yet more than a decade later, and the horsepower goal posts have been moved yet again. That has led many 1999 Cobra owners seeking even more power from their factory Mustangs, and there are plenty of shops willing to oblige them. Take this video of Voodoo Racing Innovations and the turbocharged Cobra build they did. It puts down sick amounts of power, while keeping those classic (90s) Cobra looks.

The Cobra belongs to Elton Burnley, and Mr. Burnley evidently likes horsepower. He had Voodoo Racing completely replace the 4.6 liter V8 with a built Boss 5.0 engine. Then they added their own rear-mount turbocharger system, along with ported ‘03 Cobra heads and a custom tunnel ram intake.

All those mods (and more) are enough for the Cobra to lay down over 935 horsepower at 18 psi. The Cobra sounds nasty, sucking in enough air to suffocate most of Congress (wouldn’t THAT be nice?) while putting just under 750 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels. This Cobra definitely qualifies as a monster Mustang if you ask us.

Whoever says the SN95 Mustang can’t hang has never seen this Cobra in action.
